MUTOID
Clone board of the VOCU Hybrid Overdrive. Very little is known about the VOCU brand, which is an acronym for "Vivid Output Capable Unit". Leave it to the Japanese to come up with very creative, yet very literal brand names. Anyway, as an overdrive, it is very vivid, and very capable. Gobs of boost, and the tone is geared more towards a nice mid boost. The mid is actually adjustable via an internal trimmer, as is the volume level that hits the last buffer stage. The real kicker is it comes with a voltage boost switch, which double the internal voltage of the circuit for additional headroom.
From our research, the VOCU brand may have been a division of the now defunct Fernandes company. Perhaps one last gasp to save their company? Who knows. However, many of their pedals were all hand built on perfboard, with meticulous workmanship (yikes!). Not exactly the best way to increase profits in a pinch. All we know is that the VOCU brand became "Vizion" for a short time, and it too soon disappeared. In true DEFX fashion, we've managed to keep the torch lit, so these really cool circuits won't be lost to the sands of time.
